Summit Skilled Solutions is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Assistant Superintendent / Project Engineer to support field operations and project management functions on commercial construction projects. This role plays a critical part in maintaining schedule adherence, quality standards, cost control, and jobsite safety while collaborating closely with the Project Superintendent and Project Manager.
The ideal candidate demonstrates strong organizational skills, technical proficiency, and the ability to effectively coordinate field and office activities.
Develop a comprehensive understanding of all project drawings, specifications, contracts, and subcontract agreements.
Monitor project schedules daily and assist in coordinating field operations to ensure quality workmanship and compliance with plans and specifications.
Compile subcontractor labor reports and prepare daily construction reports, including workforce counts, work-in-place documentation, weather conditions, and notable jobsite activities.
Support the Project Manager in tracking and maintaining project cost reports.
Assist in organizing, scheduling, and participating in weekly job coordination meetings and additional project meetings as required.
Review and monitor submittals, shop drawings, RFIs, and related documentation in coordination with the project team.
Maintain and enforce project safety standards, including conducting regular safety meetings in accordance with jobsite requirements.
Schedule and supervise company field personnel as directed, while assisting in cost monitoring and labor tracking.
Support field change administration, including proper documentation and validation of change orders, time and material tickets, shipping receipts, and invoices.
Assist in developing and updating project schedules.
Review subcontractor and vendor invoices and applications for payment as requested.
Utilize company technology platforms and construction management software (scheduling programs, document control systems, BIM tools, etc.) to effectively perform assigned responsibilities.
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred; equivalent field experience considered.
2–5 years of experience in commercial construction, preferably in a field supervision or project engineering capacity.
Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and scheduling principles.
Working knowledge of construction management software and document control systems.
Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
