Position Overview

Summit Skilled Solutions is seeking an experienced Building Engineer to serve as the lead technical resource responsible for the operation, maintenance, and optimization of building systems across multiple facilities. This role supports commercial office, warehouse, and production environments, ensuring all systems operate efficiently, safely, and with minimal disruption to daily operations.

The ideal candidate will bring strong hands-on technical expertise along with the ability to coordinate maintenance activities, manage vendors, and proactively identify opportunities for improvement.


Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and maintain all mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and building systems
  • Perform troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and repairs across commercial systems
  • Manage and complete reactive and on-demand work orders using a CMMS system
  • Conduct routine facility inspections to identify issues and generate proactive work orders
  • Coordinate and manage third-party vendors and subcontractors, ensuring quality and compliance
  • Plan and schedule maintenance activities to minimize operational disruptions
  • Assist in material procurement and maintain organized attic stock inventory
  • Troubleshoot complex system failures and implement corrective actions
  • Generate purchase requisitions and support subcontractor scheduling
  • Interface with production and facility teams to coordinate work activities
  • Maintain accurate documentation and close out work orders in CMMS
  • Support energy efficiency and conservation initiatives
  • Ensure all work is performed in compliance with safety standards and regulations
  • Identify process improvements and help refine maintenance procedures

Qualifications

Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 5–10 years of experience in commercial building operations and maintenance
  • Strong working knowledge of:
    • HVAC systems
    • Electrical systems
    • Plumbing systems
  • General maintenance skills (carpentry, painting, minor electrical, locksmithing)
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical diagrams
  • Experience with CMMS systems and maintenance scheduling
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Reliable, self-motivated, and able to work independently

Preferred:

  • Technical school certification
  • Experience in a planner/scheduler role
  • EPA Universal Certification (Section 608)
  • Florida Journeyman Electrician or Plumber License
  • Boiler Operator License
  • OSHA 10 or 30 certification
