Job Overview:
Summit Skilled Solutions is seeking experienced Concrete Finishers for an active site development project at a school facility. This position involves finishing concrete for sidewalks, curbs, walkways, and other exterior concrete structures. Candidates must be skilled in all phases of hand-finishing concrete and comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions. This is a hands-on role requiring attention to detail, quality workmanship, and adherence to strict safety standards.
Job Responsibilities:
- Place, spread, level, and finish concrete for sidewalks, curbs, gutters, walkways, and other site concrete applications.
- Perform all concrete finishing activities by hand, including screeding, edging, jointing, floating, broom finishing, and troweling.
- Shape and finish concrete surfaces to specified grades, elevations, and project requirements.
- Install and maintain control joints, expansion joints, and finished edges.
- Check concrete for proper consistency and workability during placement and finishing operations.
- Assist with concrete pours, formwork adjustments, and site preparation as needed.
- Maintain clean and organized work areas while ensuring high-quality workmanship throughout the project.
- Follow project specifications, construction drawings, and supervisor instructions.
- Adhere to all company, site-specific, and OSHA safety regulations.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2+ years of concrete finishing experience preferred.
- Proven experience finishing sidewalks, curbs, and other exterior flatwork.
- Strong knowledge of hand-finishing techniques and concrete placement procedures.
- Ability to achieve smooth, broom, and specialty finishes as required.
- Experience working with screeds, hand floats, edgers, jointers, trowels, and other finishing tools.
- Ability to work efficiently in outdoor construction environments and varying weather conditions.
- Must be dependable, safety-conscious, and able to work as part of a construction crew.
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and perform physically demanding work, including bending, kneeling, and standing for extended periods.
Requirements:
- Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check due to work being performed on school property.
- Must provide basic concrete finishing hand tools.
- Required PPE includes:
- Hard Hat
- High-Visibility Safety Vest/Shirt
- Safety Glasses
- Appropriate Work Boots suitable for concrete work
- Additional PPE as required by site conditions
Work Environment:
- Outdoor construction environment.
- Work involves exposure to weather conditions, wet concrete, uneven terrain, and active construction activities.
- Safety and quality workmanship are critical to project success.
Compensation and Benefits
- $30-$32/hr BOE
