HVAC Technician II
Location: Charlotte, NC
Schedule: Monday – Friday | 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
Compensation: $30–$32/hour
Assignment Type: 6-Month Contract with Potential for Direct Hire

Position Overview
Summit Skilled Solutions is seeking an experienced HVAC Technician II to support a large commercial and industrial facility in the Charlotte area. This position is responsible for performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, and general maintenance activities on HVAC and mechanical building systems.
The ideal candidate will have experience working in commercial facilities and be comfortable performing routine maintenance, responding to service requests, and assisting with repairs involving HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical equipment. This role offers the opportunity to work with a professional facilities maintenance team in a stable environment with potential for long-term employment.
Key Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive maintenance on HVAC equipment according to scheduled maintenance programs.
  • Replace filters, belts, and other consumable components as required.
  • Clean and inspect heating and cooling coils, condensate systems, and air distribution equipment.
  • Lubricate bearings, motors, pumps, and fans as required.
  • Assist with troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining HVAC systems including:
    • Air handlers
    • Package units
    • Split systems
    • Heat pumps
    • Exhaust fans
    • Chilled water systems
    • Pumps and piping systems
  • Support maintenance activities involving electrical, plumbing, and mechanical building systems.
  • Install and replace lighting ballasts, lamps, and related components.
  • Conduct routine building inspections and report equipment issues, unusual noises, odors, or other concerns.
  • Analyze equipment performance and assist in identifying root causes of system malfunctions.
  • Document maintenance activities, repairs, and equipment readings accurately and timely.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Utilize hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment safely and effectively.
  • Follow all company, customer, and OSHA safety requirements.
  • Communicate professionally with facility occupants, vendors, and team members.
  • Perform additional maintenance-related duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications

  • HVAC Trade School certification.
  • Universal EPA/CFC Certification.
  • Experience with Building Automation Systems (BAS) or Energy Management Systems (EMS).
  • Additional maintenance experience in electrical or plumbing systems.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, and climb throughout the workday.
  • Ability to climb ladders and access rooftop equipment.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 70 pounds.
  • Comfortable working in varying indoor and outdoor conditions, including rooftops and temperature extremes.
  • Ability to safely perform maintenance activities while utilizing required personal protective equipment (PPE).
