Job Title: Commercial Maintenance Technician
Schedule: 1st Shift | Monday–Friday with some nights and weekends
Compensation: $28–$34 per hour
Location: Reston, VA 20190


Position Overview

Summit Skilled Solutions is seeking a skilled and versatile Commercial Maintenance Technician to support multiple commercial properties in the Reston area. This role requires delivering high-quality maintenance services while maintaining strong client relationships and professional standards.

A company vehicle and tools are provided. Daily local travel between properties is required. Flexibility for occasional nights and weekend work is expected.


Key Responsibilities

Preventative & Corrective Maintenance

  • Complete preventative, corrective, and predictive maintenance according to work orders

  • Perform emergency repairs and routine maintenance of buildings, equipment, and grounds

  • Conduct service inspections and asset assessments

  • Ensure all work complies with company procedures, safety standards, and applicable regulations

Skilled Trade Work

  • Plumbing: Perform minor plumbing repairs including unclogging toilets and urinals, replacing faucet fixtures and valve assemblies, and maintaining automatic flush sensors

  • Electrical: Complete minor electrical maintenance within state law limits, including replacing fixtures, switches, outlets, bulbs, ballasts, and sockets

  • Carpentry & Painting: Conduct drywall repair, painting, floor and door maintenance, and general repairs to maintain facilities in like-new condition

  • Mechanical Systems: Assist with installation, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems

Technology & Documentation

  • Utilize tablet or smartphone to:

    • Access and complete work orders with detailed notes

    • Submit service reports and quality inspection images

    • Record timesheets, expense reports, and purchase logs

  • Maintain timely and accurate communication regarding work order status

Customer Service & Communication

  • Build and maintain professional relationships with clients

  • Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction through quality workmanship and responsiveness

  • Maintain consistent communication with internal support teams

  • Provide estimates for larger onsite projects as required

Safety & Compliance

  • Comply with OSHA standards and all company safety policies

  • Complete required safety and compliance training

  • Attend weekly safety meetings

  • Follow all applicable codes and regulations related to building operations


Qualifications

Education

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required

  • Trade certification or formal training in Electrical, HVAC, Plumbing, Landscaping, or Specialty Floor Care preferred

Experience

  • 2–5 years of general maintenance experience required

  • Experience in minor electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and building systems maintenance

  • Commercial property maintenance experience preferred

  • Demonstrated ability to perform day-to-day repairs, emergency service, and preventative maintenance

Licenses & Certifications

  • Valid driver’s license in good standing required

  • Applicable trade certifications or licenses preferred

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency using handheld devices and work order management systems

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and Outlook

  • Ability to read and interpret safety policies, operating instructions, and manuals

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
