Conveyor Mechanic – L6 Conveyor Testing Coverage
Location: Commerce City, CO 80022
Pay: $28.00/hour
Per Diem: $319/day for all days
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 10-hour shifts
Project Type: Short-Term Project / Testing & Coverage
Position Overview
Summit Skilled Solutions is seeking an experienced Conveyor Mechanic to provide L6 conveyor testing coverage at a UPS facility in Commerce City, Colorado.
The conveyor system is essentially complete and operational, so this is not a heavy installation or construction position. The primary responsibility will be to remain onsite during testing and operational coverage, monitor the conveyor system, and assist with minor adjustments or fine-tuning if an issue is identified.
This position is well suited for a mechanically skilled conveyor technician who can troubleshoot equipment, identify potential problems, and make basic mechanical adjustments when needed.
Responsibilities
-
Provide onsite mechanical coverage during L6 conveyor system testing.
-
Monitor conveyor equipment during testing and operational runs.
-
Observe system performance and identify mechanical issues or abnormalities.
-
Perform minor adjustments, alignment, tensioning, tracking, or other fine-tuning as needed.
-
Troubleshoot basic conveyor mechanical issues if they arise.
-
Assist with correcting minor deficiencies identified during testing.
-
Verify conveyor components are operating properly.
-
Communicate issues to the project leadership or testing team.
-
Follow all UPS and site-specific safety requirements.
-
Maintain a clean and safe work area.
-
Be prepared to respond quickly if the system requires mechanical attention.
What to Expect
Because the conveyor system is already installed and substantially complete, this should be a relatively light-duty project most of the time. There may be extended periods where the mechanic is simply monitoring the system and remaining available in case adjustments or troubleshooting are required.
The right candidate should be comfortable with a testing/standby-style assignment and understand that the primary value of the position is having a qualified conveyor mechanic onsite and available when needed.
Qualifications
-
Previous experience working on industrial conveyor systems.
-
Mechanical troubleshooting experience.
-
Ability to make basic conveyor adjustments and fine-tuning.
-
Familiarity with conveyor components, including belts, rollers, bearings, drives, pulleys, and tracking systems.
-
Ability to read and understand basic mechanical drawings or equipment documentation.
-
Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
-
Must be dependable and able to remain onsite for the full scheduled shift.
-
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
-
Must be willing to travel to Commerce City, CO.
Compensation
- $28.00/hour
- $319/day per diem for all days
- .72 cents/mile
- 10-hour shifts, Monday–Friday
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is a conveyor mechanic or millwright with strong conveyor troubleshooting experience who can recognize mechanical issues, make minor adjustments, and remain productive and attentive during system testing. This is not a major installation project—the system is already complete, and the mechanic is primarily there for testing coverage and any fine-tuning that may be required.
