Position Overview
Summit Skilled Solutions is hiring Conveyor Service Technicians to perform preventive maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs on conveyor and material handling systems inside Amazon facilities throughout the United States. Candidates must be local to the Nashville area and available to travel nationally once the background check is completed.
This is a permanent career opportunity with a defined 150-day contract-to-hire period. Candidates will begin working locally in the Indianapolis area while the required background screening is completed. Once cleared and issued a company badge/ID, the technician will transition into nationwide travel assignments.
On the 151st day of employment, employees will be hired directly.
The work is hands-on and field-focused. Technicians will be responsible for keeping conveyor and material handling equipment operating safely and reliably through scheduled preventive maintenance, inspections, repairs, adjustments, and troubleshooting.
What You’ll Do
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance (PM) on conveyor and material handling equipment.
- Inspect conveyors, belts, rollers, bearings, motors, drives, pulleys, chains, sprockets, and related components.
- Identify worn, damaged, or improperly operating components before they result in equipment downtime.
- Perform mechanical repairs and component replacement.
- Troubleshoot conveyor equipment and identify the source of mechanical problems.
- Adjust, align, tension, track, and lubricate conveyor components as required.
- Replace belts, rollers, bearings, motors, gearboxes, chains, sprockets, and other wear components.
- Support corrective maintenance and emergency repair activities.
- Follow equipment drawings, schematics, maintenance procedures, and manufacturer specifications.
- Document completed maintenance, repairs, deficiencies, and parts used.
- Communicate equipment conditions and outstanding issues to site leadership.
- Work safely around operating automated material handling systems.
- Coordinate with other maintenance technicians, operations personnel, and site leadership.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in an organized condition.
- Travel to Amazon facilities throughout the U.S. as project assignments require.

- Belt conveyors
- Roller conveyors
- Sortation equipment
- Powered conveyor systems
- Motors and gearboxes
- Bearings and pulleys
- Chains and sprockets
- Conveyor belts and tracking systems
- Sensors and related components
- Automated material handling equipment
- Distribution center conveyor systems
Travel & Expenses
After background clearance and issuance of the company badge/ID, the employee will receive a company credit card via email for approved business travel expenses.
Before the company credit card is issued:
- Employee is responsible for booking and paying gas and hotel expenses upfront.
- Summit Skilled Solutions provides $100/day per diem to cover hotel
- Mileage is reimbursed at $0.50/mile (tracked by employee)
- Eligible expenses are reimbursed according to company procedures.
Once the company credit card is active, approved travel expenses can be charged directly to the company card.
Qualifications
Required
- Conveyor, industrial maintenance, mechanical maintenance, or related experience.
- Ability to perform hands-on preventive maintenance and mechanical repairs.
- Ability to troubleshoot mechanical equipment.
- Ability to work safely around industrial automation and material handling equipment.
- Ability and willingness to travel extensively throughout the United States after clearance.
- Must be local to the Indianapolis area for the initial assignment.
- Reliable transportation for the initial local assignment.
- Ability to pass required background screening.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a maintenance team.
Career Path
This is not intended to be a temporary job.
The initial 150-day period is a structured temp-to-hire evaluation period. Employees who complete the contract period will be hired directly on their 151st day of employment.
After transitioning to direct employment, technicians will have the opportunity to continue working on Amazon projects throughout the country.
