Conveyor Mechanic Team – Amazon DET3 (Pontiac, MI)
Summit Skilled Solutions is seeking an experienced Conveyor Mechanic Team to support a 10-week Amazon conveyor modification project at the DET3 Fulfillment Center in Pontiac, Michigan. We are hiring 1 Foreman, 1 Lead Conveyor Mechanic, and 4 Frontline Conveyor Mechanics to complete Motor Driven Roller (MDR) conveyor modifications.
This project offers the opportunity to move directly into additional Amazon projects, including another identical site and future full-scale conveyor installation projects, for mechanics who demonstrate strong performance and reliability.

Schedule
- 7:00 AM start time
- 40 hours per week
- Work schedule will be coordinated with the electrical contractor and may vary as work progresses.
Pay & Per Diem
Foreman
- $30.00/hour
- $170/day Per Diem (days worked)
Lead Conveyor Mechanic
- $28.00/hour
- $120/day Per Diem (days worked)
Frontline Conveyor Mechanic
- $27.00/hour
- $100/day Per Diem (days worked)
Scope of Work
This project consists of Motor Driven Roller (MDR) conveyor modifications throughout the facility.
Responsibilities include:
- Installing and modifying MDR conveyor systems
- Cutting and replacing conveyor belts
- Mechanical assembly and disassembly of conveyor components
- Aligning and adjusting conveyor equipment
- Reading and following mechanical drawings and installation plans
- Using hand and power tools safely and efficiently
- Working alongside the electrical contractor to complete two conveyor lines at a time
- Maintaining a clean and safe work area
- Following all Amazon site safety requirements
There are 13 conveyor lines at the facility. Amazon requires work to be completed on two lines at a time, requiring close coordination with the electrical contractor throughout the project.
Qualifications
- Previous conveyor installation or conveyor maintenance experience required
- Experience with MDR (Motor Driven Roller) conveyor systems preferred
- Experience cutting, installing, and tensioning conveyor belts
- Ability to read mechanical drawings and layouts
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- Experience using standard hand and power tools
- Reliable transportation
- Ability to work safely in an active distribution facility
- Must be dependable and able to work as part of a team
Foreman Qualifications
- Proven experience leading conveyor installation crews
- Ability to coordinate daily work activities
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Experience working directly with project management and other trades
Lead Qualifications
- Prior experience leading small conveyor crews
- Ability to assist the Foreman with daily production and quality
- Willingness to mentor less experienced mechanics
