General Maintenance Technician

Summit Skilled Solutions is currently hiring a dependable and skilled General Maintenance Technician for an industrial/commercial facility in the LaGrange, Georgia area. This position is ideal for a maintenance professional with experience in mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and facility maintenance systems who thrives in a fast-paced environment and takes pride in quality workmanship.

Pay

  • $23.00 – $27.00 per hour
  • Compensation based on experience and qualifications

Job Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on commercial and industrial facility equipment
  • Conduct daily equipment and system inspections (“shift rounds”) to identify and document issues
  • Troubleshoot and repair building systems including:
    • HVAC equipment
    • Plumbing systems
    • Electrical systems
    • Fire/life safety systems
    • Lighting systems
  • Repair and maintain:
    • Transformers
    • Motors and motor starters
    • MCC panels and circuits
    • Variable frequency drives (VFDs)
    • Dock equipment including overhead doors, dock levelers, dock locks, and seals
  • Perform general building maintenance tasks such as:
    • Painting
    • Minor carpentry
    • Plumbing repairs
    • Leak and drain repairs
    • Rebuilding pumps, valves, steam traps, and pneumatic devices
  • Complete administrative tasks including:
    • Parts ordering
    • PO creation
    • Vendor coordination
    • Maintenance documentation within CMMS systems
  • Communicate effectively with coworkers, contractors, and facility personnel regarding project status and maintenance needs
  • Assist with maintenance projects and oversee subcontractors as needed
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment while following OSHA and lockout/tagout procedures

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Trade school training or additional technical education preferred
  • Minimum 4 years of industrial or commercial maintenance experience preferred
  • Experience with mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and carpentry systems
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • Forklift and aerial lift/scissor lift operation experience preferred
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, safety procedures, manuals, and technical instructions
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, email systems, CMMS software, and building automation systems

Skills & Abilities

  • Strong troubleshooting and repair skills
  • Ability to safely operate hand tools and power tools
  • Experience disassembling and reassembling pumps, fans, fixtures, and HVAC equipment
  • Knowledge of building systems including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and life safety systems
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and manage workload efficiently
  • Comfortable working independently and as part of a maintenance team
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to support occasional weekend or non-standard schedules as needed
