Position Title: HSE Specialist
Position Level: Administration
Reports To: HSE Risk Manager
Department: Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE)

Position Summary

The HSE Specialist is responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating the effectiveness of company health, safety, and environmental policies, procedures, and programs. This role supports operations across natural gas completion, compressor stations, and construction sites, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and promoting a proactive safety culture.

HSE Specialist Key Responsibilities Regulatory Compliance & Program Management

  • Maintain working knowledge of applicable EH&S regulations, including OSHA, EPA, DOT, MSHA, NIOSH, and ANSI standards.
  • Interpret and implement federal, state, and local safety regulations and national consensus standards.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and industry best practices.
  • Align safety initiatives with company strategic goals and objectives.

HSE Specialist Auditing & Risk Management

  • Conduct job site audits to identify existing and potential hazards; recommend and track corrective and preventative actions.
  • Analyze injury data and safety trends to design and implement targeted safety improvement programs.
  • Investigate incidents, perform root cause analysis, and ensure corrective actions are completed effectively.
  • Evaluate safety risks and develop strategies for hazard elimination or risk reduction.
  • Monitor and measure the effectiveness of safety programs, driving continuous improvement.

HSE Specialist Training & Safety Culture Development

  • Develop and deliver safety training programs for employees, supervisors, and management.
  • Create lesson plans, coordinate training schedules, and track completion.
  • Promote a strong safety culture through active engagement with employees and leadership.
  • Coordinate and track all customer-required training programs.

HSE Specialist Reporting & Communication

  • Prepare and present audit reports and safety performance data to management and clients.
  • Participate in customer meetings and provide updates on safety performance and initiatives.
  • Maintain clear and effective communication across all levels of the organization.

HSE Specialist Program Administration

  • Develop Site-Specific Safety Plans (SSSPs) for project locations.
  • Manage internal safety training programs and maintain training records for employees and subcontractors.
  • Administer the Respiratory Protection Program, including fit testing, documentation, and training.
  • Oversee company safety programs such as:
  • Driver Protection & Telematics Program
  • Seasonal Wear Program (Summer/Winter PPE)
  • Maintain and manage safety systems and tools, including SharePoint project folders and training databases.
  • Manage the company’s safety recognition platform (Instant Card program).
  • Maintain, inspect, and document company-owned AEDs.

Secondary Responsibilities

HSE Specialist Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Safety Science, or a related field (required).
  • 1–5 years of experience in construction, natural gas, or a related industry.
  • Working knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local safety regulations.
