We are expanding our leadership team and are seeking an experienced Superintendent to oversee multiple natural gas compressor station construction projects. This is a hands-on field leadership position for an experienced oil & gas professional who understands both the construction side and the mechanical scope of compressor station work.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in civil/concrete construction and mechanical/bolt-up pipefitting, along with proven experience supervising crews, subcontractors, and multiple phases of work on active oil & gas jobsites. A basic working knowledge of electrical systems and construction is also required.
This is a Direct Hire position with the contractor from Day One — not a temp-to-hire opportunity.
$40–$50 per hour, based on experience
Minimum schedule of 5 days / 10 hours per day
Potential for 6/10s depending on project requirements
Direct Hire with the contractor on Day One
Long-term opportunity with multiple compressor station projects
Leadership position with opportunity for continued growth within the organization
The Superintendent will provide day-to-day field leadership and oversight across multiple natural gas compressor station jobsites. This individual will be responsible for coordinating manpower, equipment, subcontractors, materials, scheduling, safety, quality, and overall project execution.
Manage daily construction activities across multiple compressor station jobsites.
Provide direct supervision and leadership to foremen, skilled tradesmen, laborers, and subcontractors.
Coordinate multiple crews and construction disciplines to keep projects moving safely and efficiently.
Monitor manpower requirements and coordinate staffing with project management.
Review project schedules and ensure work is progressing according to established milestones.
Identify potential delays, manpower issues, material shortages, and other field problems before they impact the schedule.
Communicate daily with project managers, contractors, owners, inspectors, and field leadership.
Conduct daily jobsite walks and verify work is being completed according to plans, specifications, and project requirements.
Assist with planning upcoming work, sequencing trades, and coordinating equipment and materials.
The Superintendent must have practical experience with civil and concrete scopes commonly found on compressor station projects, including:
Foundations and equipment pads
Concrete slabs and structural foundations
Excavation and grading
Site preparation
Forms, reinforcing steel, embeds, and anchor bolts
Concrete placement and finishing
Equipment foundations and setting
Underground utilities and piping support
Site drainage and general civil construction
Coordination of civil crews and concrete subcontractors
Strong mechanical knowledge is critical to this position. The Superintendent should be comfortable overseeing and, when necessary, directly assisting with:
Bolt-up pipefitting and mechanical assembly
Large-diameter piping systems
Flanges, gaskets, bolts, and torque procedures
Valve installation and replacement
Above-ground process piping
Mechanical equipment installation
Pipe supports and structural components
Alignment and fit-up
Hydrostatic testing and pressure testing activities
Reading mechanical drawings, isometrics, and construction plans
Coordinating pipefitters, millwrights, welders, riggers, and laborers
Understanding proper sequencing of mechanical installation activities
This is not strictly an administrative superintendent role. The successful candidate must be able to walk onto a jobsite, understand the work being performed, identify problems, and provide practical direction to the crews.
A strong electrical background is not required, but the Superintendent should have a basic understanding of industrial electrical construction, including:
General electrical installation practices
Conduit and cable routing
Equipment connections
Basic understanding of electrical components and systems
Coordination between electrical and mechanical/civil crews
Ability to recognize potential electrical issues and coordinate with qualified electrical personnel
Maintain a strong safety culture across all jobsites.
Ensure crews follow company, contractor, OSHA, and applicable oil & gas safety requirements.
Conduct and participate in toolbox talks, JSA/JHA reviews, and pre-task planning.
Monitor proper PPE and safe work practices.
Identify and correct unsafe conditions.
Coordinate with safety personnel and project leadership regarding incidents, near misses, and corrective actions.
Ensure work is performed according to site-specific safety requirements and owner standards.
Verify construction activities meet project specifications and quality standards.
Review work for proper installation, alignment, fit-up, torque, concrete placement, and overall workmanship.
Coordinate inspections and testing with project management and third-party inspectors.
Identify deficiencies and ensure corrective work is completed.
Maintain accurate field documentation and daily reports.
5+ years of oil & gas construction experience, preferably within natural gas compressor stations, pipelines, processing facilities, or similar industrial environments.
Strong hands-on background in mechanical construction and bolt-up pipefitting.
Experience overseeing multiple crews and construction disciplines.
Ability to read and understand construction drawings, mechanical plans, piping isometrics, and project specifications.
Basic knowledge of industrial electrical construction.
Strong understanding of jobsite safety and OSHA requirements.
Ability to manage manpower, materials, equipment, schedules, and subcontractors.
Strong communication and organizational skills.
Ability to work independently and make sound field decisions.
Willingness to travel between multiple compressor station projects as required.
Must be comfortable working in an active oil & gas construction environment.
The ideal candidate is a field-proven oil & gas construction leader, not someone whose experience is limited to office or administrative project management. We are looking for someone who understands how compressor station projects are actually built and can effectively lead crews in the field.
A strong candidate will be able to move between civil/concrete, mechanical/bolt-up pipefitting, equipment installation, and general site construction, while maintaining control of safety, quality, schedule, and manpower.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced oil & gas Superintendent or senior-level Foreman who is ready to take on greater responsibility and become part of a growing leadership team.
