Position Summary

Summit Skilled Solutions is seeking a Production Maintenance Technician I to support facility and process equipment maintenance operations. This role is responsible for performing preventive maintenance (PM), troubleshooting, and repairs while following a “flow to the work” approach. The ideal candidate is dependable, safety-focused, and demonstrates strong communication and follow-up skills, along with a sense of ownership in their work.


Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment, adhering to all company and client safety policies and procedures.
  • Successfully complete required certifications and training for operating equipment such as forklifts, scissor lifts, and boom lifts.
  • Properly use ladders and fall protection equipment in accordance with safety guidelines.
  • Perform preventive maintenance tasks based on written procedures, including inspecting equipment, measuring wear, and replacing components such as belts, hoses, filters, and fluids.
  • Execute assigned work orders and accurately document completion in the CMMS system.
  • Conduct repairs on facility and process equipment, including pumps, valves, steam traps, cylinders, and electrical or pneumatic components.
  • Perform routine operational checks (“rounds”) and document equipment performance metrics such as pressure, temperature, RPM, and system functionality.
  • Communicate effectively with leadership regarding work status, parts requirements, and any delays impacting completion timelines.
  • Complete maintenance and repair work within designated process areas.
  • Ensure all documentation and paperwork are completed accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred, or a combination of education and relevant experience.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years of mechanical experience required, including exposure to electrical, plumbing, or carpentry work; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Certifications/Licenses:

  • Valid driver’s license required
  • Forklift and aerial lift (JLG) certifications preferred or ability to obtain

Skills & Abilities:

  • Ability to read and understand technical instructions, maintenance procedures, and internal communications
  • Basic written communication skills for reports and documentation
  • Strong interpersonal skills for effective communication with team members and client representatives
  • Mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot and repair equipment
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks efficiently

Physical Requirements

  • Regularly required to stand, walk, and use hands for tools and equipment handling
  • Frequent lifting up to 30 pounds; occasional lifting up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to climb ladders, work at heights, and perform tasks involving bending, kneeling, and crawling
  • Must be comfortable working in a physically demanding environment

Work Environment

  • Industrial setting requiring the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), including steel-toe boots, hearing protection, hard hat, eye protection, and gloves
  • Compliance with OSHA regulations, including lockout/tagout and hazard communication standards
  • Work schedule may vary based on operational demands
  • Ability to remain composed and professional in high-pressure situations
