About the Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced refrigeration professional who is ready to transition from the field into a technical operations and support role. This position serves as the primary refrigeration subject matter expert supporting critical commercial and industrial refrigeration systems across a multi-state region.

Rather than performing daily hands-on service work, the Senior Refrigeration Specialist acts as a technical resource for field technicians, service providers, and operations leadership. The role focuses on troubleshooting complex issues, monitoring equipment performance, reviewing work orders, coordinating service activities, and helping ensure refrigeration assets remain operational and compliant.

This is an excellent opportunity for a senior refrigeration technician, lead technician, or service manager who enjoys solving technical problems, mentoring others, and supporting large-scale operations from a strategic perspective.

Position Summary

The Senior Refrigeration Specialist provides technical oversight and support for refrigeration systems located throughout a large geographic territory. This individual serves as an escalation point for complex refrigeration issues and works closely with technicians, vendors, and leadership teams to ensure equipment reliability, regulatory compliance, and timely issue resolution.

The role requires strong refrigeration expertise, excellent communication skills, and the ability to support critical operations in a fast-paced environment. While primarily desk-based, the position may require occasional travel and availability outside of standard business hours to support urgent operational needs.

  • Document technical findings, recommendations, and corrective actions within the CMMS platform.
  • Review service reports and ensure work is completed accurately and in accordance with operational standards.
  • Identify recurring equipment issues and recommend long-term corrective actions.
  • Assist with capital projects, equipment replacements, and major repairs.
  • Participate in regular operational meetings and provide updates on asset performance and ongoing projects.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on reliability, uptime, and maintenance effectiveness.
  • Maintain compliance with all company, customer, and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide after-hours support as needed for critical refrigeration events.

Preferred Background

  • Experience supporting ultra-low temperature refrigeration equipment is a significant plus.
  • Familiarity with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).

Qualifications

Required

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • EPA Certification.
  • Strong understanding of refrigeration principles, controls, compressors, condensers, evaporators, and related systems.
