We are seeking an experienced Semi-Automated Welder to join an industrial production team. This position combines operating semi-automated welding equipment with hands-on MIG welding, weld inspection, quality control, and manual weld repair.
The ideal Submerged Arc Welder Operator will have solid MIG welding experience, the ability to identify and correct weld defects, and a strong commitment to producing consistent, high-quality work in a production environment.
Submerged Arc Welder Operator – Responsibilities
- Set up and operate semi-automated welding equipment.
- Perform MIG welding on mild steel components in an industrial production environment.
- Read and follow blueprints, weld symbols, welding procedures, and production specifications.
- Monitor weld quality and make equipment or parameter adjustments when needed.
- Perform leak testing and routine quality-control inspections.
- Identify weld defects and complete necessary manual weld repairs.
- Perform penetrant/dye testing to verify weld integrity.
- Maintain consistent weld quality, appearance, and workmanship throughout production.
- Follow established welding, quality-control, and safety procedures.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
Submerged Arc Welder Operator – Qualifications
- 4+ years of welding experience preferred.
- Strong hands-on experience with MIG welding on mild steel.
- Ability to read and understand fabrication drawings, blueprints, and weld symbols.
- Previous experience with weld inspection and quality-control procedures.
- Experience operating semi-automated or production welding equipment.
- Ability to identify weld defects and perform manual weld repairs.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to maintain production standards in a fast-paced industrial environment.
- Reliable attendance and strong work ethic.
Submerged Arc Welder Operator – Required Weld Test
Candidates must successfully complete a:
MIG Weld Test – Mild Steel Plate – 1G Flat Position
The Submerged Arc Welder Operator test will evaluate welding technique, consistency, penetration, appearance, and overall weld quality.
